Just be prepared to be mauled by your kitten when you come home from work. My Regie is all over me wanting to eat my hair, for about 10 min. LOL

Lol!
I already get "mauled", so to speak, by my daughter and doggies. What's one more? Right? Right!

You know it seems so strange to me that with all the research I've done, and the breeders I'm talking to, that I've never seen a Savannah in person!
I'm actually making a trip with a friend to Ohio in the next month. Does anyone know of any breeders, or even owners, around the area that would let me visit with one of their kitties? Doesn't have to be a kitten!
I know most breeders have strict rules about visits, with good reason, but I thought if anybody would know how I could go about doing this it would be someone on this forum!

The TICA website has been twitchy all week, but I think it's supposed to be up and running again. Here is the link to the show calendar: http://www.tica.org/show-calendar

Patti, thanks so much for your help! And can I say your babies are absolutely breathtaking! Haha I wish I was located closer to you!

I'm glad its not just me having problems with the site. Looks like the one in Reading, PA or Hickory,NC would be closest/easiest to get to. Can you say road trip!?

To be honest I've never been to any kind of show before, and I'm not sure how these things work.
Do you have to pay to get in? Do they allow you to interact with the cats? What is the etiquette/protocol for this?
Sorry for all the questions!

This is all very new and exciting to me. While I did tons of research on my doodle, he was actually a rescue of sorts so I have never actively gone through a breeder or searched for a specific breed. To be honest, I'm kind of driving myself crazy trying to learn all I can haha.

Below is a link to a spectator's guide to cat shows, which will answer some of your questions. There is usually a cost for spectators to get in - around my neck of the woods it usually runs $4-5. All of the cats are 'benched' or caged in assigned areas unless they are in a ring being judged. The vast majority of exhibitors will not allow you to touch their cats, unless they have kittens for sale, then I'm sure they would allow you to handle them.

Here are some pics from a few different shows I've been to over the years, just to give you an idea of the set-up - the first pic is of the very first folk (Donna, Janet, and Carol) to show Savannahs in a cat show after becoming a Championship breed, the second pic is of a Savannah-Rama we put on at the PA Annual, the 3rd and 4th are general pics of the show hall (the 4th shows me and Brigitte for anyone who's curious), and the last two are pics of judges in the judging ring handling our cats:

If you decide to go to a show, let us know in advance as we may know someone there whom you can hook up with and learn from.
