Hello! My fiancee and I are new Savannah kitten owners. We are very excited a place like this exists to help exchange ides and help us give our new companion the best care as possible. After a lot of research and discussion, we decided to purchase our Savannah from a local breeder in Sarasota, Florida. Meet Leopold, an F3 8 week old male Savannah kitten. The mother was an F2, and the father was an F5.
Congrats what a cutie he is!!!!!

Welcome Matt & Leopold. Leo is certainly a cutie and I'm sure you are going to give him a great home and a great life. I may be prejudiced, but I figure none of us would be here on SVcatchat if we weren't concerned about giving our companion animals the best life possible. Just be extra tender and patient with him for the next few weeks as these are critical to his development.

I'm trying to understand, and I have read this information before, (http://www.savannahcatbreed.com/a-b-c-sbt-), but I'm assuming you can't have an F3 B Savannah to Savannah because you can't have an F5 A?
No, you can have an F5A...they were our very first generation of fertile Savannah males way back when. I purchased my first F5A male back in 2004...

An F3B is a product of Savannah to Savannah breeding, as both parents are Savannahs. Just he's not of course "purebred" Savannah as we in the cat world consider them purebred when they have three generations of Savannah to Savannah breeding, not just one :)

Welcome, Matt!!! Your little boys is adorable!!!

I also got my girl from a "new" breeder and brought her home at 8 weeks. So, you are not the only one that has been in this situation.

She is now 10 1/2 weeks and is doing GREAT in our home, for which I am very grateful. :) Like the others said, just handle him "with kid gloves" for now and give him lots of love. Hopefully it will all work out fine.
