Hello Savvy Lovers; from NorCal :)

We've been playing a lot. I try to get him running around the house to exhaustion (he lets me know) at least twice a day plus small play sessions in between.
Paul, I'm glad to hear how well Sorte is settling in for you. Just a suggestions but you might want to keep the play sessions on the mild side for now, until you have him checked out by your vet and get more information on his heart murmur(s).

Yeah, maybe I should clarify. By playing to exhaustion I mean until he starts panting a bit. He is MORE than willing to keep going, LOL! He hides and waits for me to move his toy again, but I usually put it away and give him his rest time. I have been getting him in the habit of drinking some water after play time too. But yes, I agree Patti, I try to keep it on the lighter side for the most part until we can get things checked out for him. :) Thank you.

What a good kitty daddy you are! I, too, have a Tasin grinder that I got about 5 years ago at the One Stop Jerky Shop. I grind about 30 pounds of chicken every 2 weeks for my 4 cats. I buy whatever chicken is on sale, and usually pay from 67¢-88¢ a pound. I also cut up chunks of beef and pork and throw in gizzards and some kind of shellfish. And lately I have been buying Bravo rabbit chubs to mix in as well. I believe that variety of meat is the best. Mine also get fresh grass to eat.

Thanks Jacquie. Wow, your kitties get a good mix of food! :) Yeah, once we get him going on the raw, we will be purchasing the Tasin grinder also because that is what everyone recommends.

I have been wondering about the grass lately too. What is that used for? do you just keep some around the house for them to chew on?

They run around in the back yard every couple of days and graze on the grass. I don't know what it is used for, but they appear to need it in their diet, or they wouldn't graze so much. I am guessing it aids in digestion in some way. I don't think they need it nutritionally, but I could be wrong.

I'll do a little research... ;)

I buy wheat grass for mine when they start eating the lawn which they usually do only in midspring to early summer. However, they always barf it up within a few minutes. Nothing else, like hairballs or food, comes up with it. I always wondered why they want the grass since it seems to have no value other than as a digestive irritant.

That looks like a good product. I could definitely see Sorte dragging around a normal pot and spreading the dirt around... LOL! This definitely looks better to contain the grass.
