Hello!

Savannah Kitten
Hello! I just wanted to introduce myself to the forums. Two weeks ago, our adorable male F2 kitten arrived and we love him. He's a silver tabby who is 13 weeks old and weighs about 5 pounds. He is currently eating Blue Buffalo Kitten canned and dry, but we are considering transitioning him to a mixture of raw/dry (anyone doing raw/dry?) or completely raw. He has been quarantined for almost two weeks. We just recently let him explore the house under supervision, of course. He is gassy and his farts are some of the worst farts I have ever smelled, but his poops are normal and we did not switch his food. Did anyone else here go through a gassy phase with their kitten? I've attached a picture of my baby at 11 weeks old. He arrived a total cuddlebug and passed out headbutts like crazy. :)

Hi there! Your kitty is beautiful -- does he have a name yet?

I also went through the worst smells in the history of kittens when we got our two F2 boys (as in, wafting from two rooms away). This has been majorly reduced as I have switched them slowly to raw. In fact, the two days I was out of chicken tenders/Nature's Variety raw food and gave them their old mixture (Evo canned + Royal Canin kibble) they were on when they came home from the breeder, the smells returned. Check out the links on switching them to raw food on the forum -- it is totally worth it, if only so you can breathe safely. tri sick:

Hey Darth, welcome! Switching to a higher quality food and/or raw mixed with canned will work.

Par for the course. I thought the varnish was going to peal from the woodwork. Certainly the green fog was a warning. We found an expensive but highly effective air freshener spray. Lime Mate Mist. (Amazon) Whereas this is expensive, it is at least 4 cans worth. A few sprays over the litter box and on the path the cat walked, and the gagging stops. Available in other citrus extracts. (I really thought something died in an inappropriate place!)

Awww, your little boy looks like a real sweetheart! Commercial cat food has a reputation for creating gas in our Savannahs, this can usually be alleviated by switching him to raw.

Hi all! Thank you for the advice. I will be trying the turkey recipe that is in the raw food forum. Going to order my first meat grinder! Hoping for less deadly farts soon.

We've named him Jack Jack. :) Inspired by Jack Jack from The Incredibles.

The difference from raw food poop and pee vs canned and dry is incredible. just wait and see. your gonna want to do all raw after you get used to poop and pee that has barely any smell to it.
