Help!! Crazy keeps trying to Molest his Katniss!

Katniss

And her brother Crazy !
Crazy started last night..Heard screaming and hissing and he had is sissy behind the bathroom door and the fur was literally flying and his tail was a brush. He continues today to follow and sniff and try to molest her. What is going on? I am concerned as he has always been a tad assertive trying to jump her but when she would hiss loudly she was able to get away. I have NEVER seen a brush tail on him. They are of course both fixed and turned 3 in December. Is this some sexual tension going on?? A little advise would be greatly appreciated!

What exactly to you mean when you say he's trying to "molest" her? Is he trying to mount her? If so, it's a common dominance behavior.

Hard to guess what could be going on. Maybe they are having a shift in hierarchy, or just got annoyed with each other for some reason, or need some time separated.

Do they have cat trees and high places to go when each wants some alone time?

Has anything changed in the household recently? Has Katniss been to the vet or out of the house? Any visitors to the house in the last couple of days, or maybe a stray cat hanging around outside? Any change, no matter how subtle can sometime be a huge deal for cats. If the behavior continues you can try separating them for awhile and see if anything changes. I have also heard that putting a dab of vanilla on the nose helps mask unwanted scents (e.g., a cat outside the window) and can help calm a cat.

Katniss

And her brother Crazy !
Interesting.. yes he is mounting her and biting her neck. They have lots of trees and high places. Katniss does have a safe house (on top of DVR in entertainment rack in bedroom) where he cannot get at her. We do indeed have a stray roaming, but he has been roaming for always. This was the very first time I ever saw Crazy with a bottle cleaner tail!! Katniss gets the big fluffy tail when playing, but never Crazy. He has calmed down and just keeps trying to sniff her butt. It made me nervous to hear that fight and see the fur as that has never occurred before. thanks for the tips and I think maybe it is a combo as I have noticed Katniss holds her own more and lets him bug her until it is too much! :mouse:

My 2 F4 Littermates starting doing this when they were about a year old. It was right around the time we got our new kitten so we weren't sure if that was the problem or not. I don't think it had anything to do with the new one, and they still fight sometimes but it has definitely gotten better. We didn't really do anything and just let them sort it out. If he got too intense we would just try to distract them with a toy.
