You need to treat her...it is the only drug that works unfortunately...yes it can cause Neuro side effects in some kittens/cats, but then the med would be stopped...so it has side effects like every other med.

I didnt mean to sound like I wasnt gunna treat her. I most certainly am, I just wanted to know of anyone with first hand experience with the drug.

We have a few members here who have treated their cats with it Shawn. They reported no side effects if memory serves me. I hope they check in and let you know how it went. Django and Sue are two who come to mind.

I had to treat my entire cattery one time when I inadvertently brought in an infected male - I think that was about 18 cats, and none of them had side effects.

Good to know! Thanks for the reply!

I had a weight in last night and was expecting/hoping for her to be inn 5lb range. A month ago she was just around 4lbs so I was hoping for a 1lb gain over the month. I couldnt be anymore wrong! She is 6lbs 9oz!!! She will be 6 months on the 18th. I thought she was a little behind in the weight but it looks like she is catching up! I feel this weight for a 6 month old F6B female is good! Hoping the hear from the vet today. Ill keep you guys updated.

I treated my Tojo with it for TF and he had no side effects at all. I think its important they get the cats exact weight and use the correct dosage. It was about a week to 2 after he finished the meds that his symptoms cleared.

Im stuck I have no idea and im getting extremely frustrated with seeing my kitty suffer. The mom and one of her brothers have both tested postive for TF. The brother had the same symptoms as my savannah and has been treated and has seen complete 150% improvement. I tried to get my vet to give me meds for it, but they said they said they cant its against the law to give me meds for something they havent tested for. Even though they gave me meds for giardia treatment when she hadnt been tested..... So I get the panel done and its comes back negative. Now they are telling me there is no such thing as a false negative and that they need to have the cat back in again for 5th time for more test. Idk what to do. She has had diarhea for 4 months now and the smell is so bad I have to leave the room most of the time. I just dont know what to do anymore. HELP!

What the heck?! I would immediately find another vet!

I also agree with the others that a PCR panel is the way to go if this is not what was already run. You can get a stand alone tritrich test (2629); a standard panel (2626) which tests for tritrich, giardia, and cryptosporidium; or a comprehensive/comprehensive plus test (2627, 3258) which tests for just about everything imaginable. Obviously the less you test for, the less expensive the test will be, which could be a factor - the comp-plus at my vet runs me $269
