This is known as a savannah moment. All of mine get the "look" and then go psycho for a spell. Unfortunately, it is more common than you think. Must be something in the serval past.............
I don't think this has anything to do with being a Savannah or having Serval blood. As others have already pointed out, you are just as likely to see this behavior in other breeds as well.

As far as the triggers - the only time I've seen my cats go postal (when it's not a cat hormone/territory issue) is when I use a certain rinse while washing my hair. I have several cats that go nuts over it and I have to be careful after my shower to avoid those particular cats until the 'scent' dissipates in an hour or so, otherwise they will attack my head and hair with tooth and nail.

It doesn't help that they are bigger. My F1 decided to suck my armpit. The next thing I know is of the excruciating pain along with a lot of drool. I have a huge cat hickey on my arm pit! It is very bruised and painful. Not letting her do that again! :eek:
