That is why the serval is such an efficient hunter, rendering rodents totally immobile when they catch their gaze. It probably happens to Savannah owners as well, one second you're playing with your cat, sipping a morning cup of coffee and the next minute your totally panic stricken and an hour late for work.

So we've had Nacho for 4 days now, he is very comfortable and extremely playful.
On the trip Nacho enjoyed sitting on the center column, playing with toys and sleeping, it went a lot better than I thought. As far as his hamster friend lets just say they can be friends as long as the hamster is in his ball and we're watching.

I have a question, Nacho has been trying to chew on our fingers and toes occasionally, how can we go about preventing this?

If I have a kitten that chews on me I usually yelp (like a kitten) and then try to redirect them to an appropriate toy.

A stern no and divert attention to a toy, with or without hot sauce. Repeated attempts, and leave the room. That's the worst punishment for them as they have a desperate want of your attention. Last ditch efforts scruffing and then a time out in small room, carrier or crate.

Patti is correct, divert his attention with a toy. If he gets in the habit of nibbling on your fingers and toes, it may become a lifelong habit.

m a newb here myself. Congrats on Nacho! I used to go horseback riding with a guy that had a horse named Nacho and sometime I would say thing like "eh stop being so hard on that horse" and he would say "Nacho poneh!". Lol

Pam I had never thought about the language we use effecting legalization efforts. Very good point! I will mind my Ps and Qs.

He continues to impress me with his intelligence and the ease to teach him tricks. We have greatly reduced his biting problem by putting him on his scratching post whenever he felt like biting. Thanks to everyone here for offering their knowledge, it has been very helpful. I wonder if anyone taught their savannah to play dead..
