I really hope they are both social, but I'm a bit worried that the airplane flight will already have them freaked when they arrive. =/

They are from the same breeder, but I think the litters are separated. I could be wrong though, I'll have to ask. I'm assuming (hoping) she will get them a bit familiar with each other before they ship?

Flying can definitely freak them out, but kittens are a lot like kids and bounce back pretty well. I know my non SV flips out and wets herself every time she has to fly (poor thing, she has terrible anxiety), but I honestly think my SV would be fine.

If most SVs are half as friendly and curious as my little girl, I wouldn't worry too much. And the Cheetoh is part Bengal too, so there's some of that more "wild" nature that helps them face the unknown with curiosity instead of fear. While they might get nervous and scared, I'm willing to bet they'll forget all about it once they're back on solid ground with a whole new room/house/world to explore.

I hope you are right The airport is about an hour drive back, so hopefully they will settle in nicely once we get home with them.

I have been hearing different things about the age to get the kitties spayed/neutered. Should this be done around 5-6 months of age, or closer to a year? Someone mentioned waiting as long as possible to prevent stunting growth. Is this a myth?

Ummm... about that waiting a long time on the spay/neuter--close to a year is way too long. 6 months might be too long.... I just received a shocking education from my breeder (Jasirisana Savannahs) by way of a photo of a 3 month old male mounting a full grown intact female. ( Think about that .)

I recommend 6 months. As with dogs I like them to grow up and they require the hormones for proper growth plate development. It isn't proven in cats but I would think the theory would include cats. I did once alter a litter at 12 weeks and 3 got an URI, it could be a coincidence but maybe it wouldn't have happened without the stress of the surgery.

Waiting as long as possible basically would mean waiting until your cat starts either cycling into heat OR spraying- neither would be good for you, the pet owner, or your kitty. Six months is just fine to spay/neuter.

I agree that a male kitten of less than 4 months of age can and will attempt to "breed". I have such a picture of my now 5 month old stud kitten mounted wayyyyy back on my biggest girl. He was 3.5 months old. I took the pic because I was shocked he was so young and so seriously intent on doing what he should be doing later. That, and it was pretty funny ;p

I had a buyer that did that as well, a Savannah and a Siamese. They are the best of buddies.

Change of plans! Our SV girl is flying in on Monday!! I'm soooo excited!
