100gms of food does not sound like very much at all. She is a growing kitten, I would give her as much as she wants, unless she starts looking chubby. Also, although the Royal Canin's first ingredient is a protein, look at the next four ingredients - not the most nutritionally sound for a growing kitten: Dehydrated poultry protein, rice, vegetable protein isolate, animal fats, maize - you might want to consider an alternative, higher quality food - you may even find that she eats less if she is getting her nutritional needs better met.

Kittens should be fed as much as they will eat for the first year. I would also recommend getting her off all food with grains in it, and more meat ingredients so it is more species appropriate and it will fill her up more with less food. And feed her mostly wet food (or raw diet) with less dry food as dry food is not the best diet for them.

Aww, thank you DumaLove. That's OK then, I'll up her wet food intake, although her dried food is free from grain. So am I correct in thinking that Bella can be fed on raw meat? Like raw minced or ground beef, chicken or pork? I thought it had to be cooked or is that bad for them? Xx

Oh my goodness, I didn't realize Patti, I was assured by the pet shop that the dried food I got for Bella was the best! I'm actually quite upset now to think that I didn't look at the ingredients, but i simply believed what the shop assistant had said. I am going to keep her biscuit bowl topped up and try her on 100g of wet food per day and see how that goes.

I don’t know of any Royal Canin food that is grain free, do you have a pic of the ingredient list?

Raw meat is better for them than cooked meat, as cooking depletes some of the nutrition. It must be balanced though if it is more than 20% or so of the diet. Which means 80% muscle meat, 10% bone and 10% secreting organ. And must have a good source of taurine and Omega 3’s. Be careful if you switch to grain free canned food, many of them substitute extra fat to up the calorie count while keeping productions costs down.

We started incorporating raw food for our Ninja and Bear about a month ago. We noticed a HUGE increase in their energy level, less digestive upset, and also that they seemed more satisfied. We just invested in a meat grinder to make the full transition.

Yeah I hadn't actually looked at the ingredients on the biscuits until you mentioned it, it is mostly alien language to me as I've not done enough research however I have been checking the meat that I've been giving her. Thanks for the link, I'll have a good old read of that when I've more time xx

I have been finding it fairly difficult to find the best kitten meat with the highest percentage of meat. I've taken a pic, these are in 100g pouches
