Maybe your 2 am meows are desire for attention. It is a quiet time and maybe she feels like she is alone and wants to know she has a family. Just a guess.

I thought that as well. She sleeps in my room but we leave the door open so she can choose where to sleep. I have two young teens who leave their doors open hoping to be her chosen one lol Last night at 2am she walked up my husbands chest put her nose to his and meowed really loud. It woke him up and so he scratched her chin until she walked away, layed on the end of the bed and went to sleep. It's like she just wanted to make sure he was still going to respond to her.

Yeah Tracie. She is just in that " This is too good to be true" mode. When she settles in and KNOWS you all love her and will be there, she will be less demanding. IMHO. I hope for your sleep's sake. ;)

BTW, so happy for you guys.

She looks to be a beautiful Savannah! My Ziggy is a silver Savannah, and can be just statuesque!

I'm still learning who she is but a few things I've discovered

Her meow is huge and constant :) she seems to be "talking" a lot. She especially likes to chat around 2am. I wish I knew if it was happy or mad but it sounds demanding :p

My Oni is quite the talker too, and she has a tone that seems angry or mean at first--scared my wife. But she just talks that way. Figuring out what she wants is usually pretty clear--throw this ball, not that one; I want to go out now!, etc. You know when she's angry!

I stare at her and notice everything about her. She probably thinks I'm creepy

Be careful staring--cats can take that as aggression. Ziggy responds very well to slow blinks and a slight focus shift elsewhere. He'll almost always do the same. It indicates you trust them and that they can trust you.

Congrats! Sounds like you have your hands full! Your life just got much more "interesting"!

The picture are great, and she is beautiful!

So sad that she has been passed around so many times, I've very glad that she has found you and her forever home now! It may be difficult tracing her pedigree, but you might be able to get TICA to issue new papers on her. This would probably require the help of the original breeder or whomever the cat is currently registered with as owner, so that is where your investigation should start.

Have you decided on a new name yet?

Just an update on my kitty. She's still a little skittish but everyday is better. She doesn't respond to her name but she doesn't come to anything my kids don't want to change it so I think I'll call her Vanna She doesn't do anything she doesn't want to. I went and got her a cat tree, a bunch of toys she could choose from and her own kitty bed. She seemed to cheer up a little after that but I think she's depressed. She walks around the house meowing but won't let me touch her. She'll come up to me and want to sit but if I move or talk she leaves :( I think I'm in for a long trek with this girl but we'll do it. Sorry that seems like I'm dumping rain. I'm not usually a downer but I'm always honest :)

I have a question and maybe you could tell me where to post it. Her last owners told me she was only given dry food and have me what they had left of hers. I also went and got a premium grain free food so she has plenty and can eat what she wants when she wants however she refuses to eat either of them. I probably did something dumb. The second day I had her I was making my son a tuna sandwich and so I squoze the juice onto her dry food thinking I'd give her a treat. Now unless it's tuna she won't eat and she freaks when we are in the kitchen spinning around our feet not letting us walk, yelling at us and getting into the pantry where the tuna is. Did I spoil her? What's up?

Did you get toys you could interact with her with? So not just balls and things she can play with on her own, but some wand toys with feathers on a string and things like that? Many cats aren't interested in toys that aren't interactive, they like you to move the mousie or feathers for them to chase. And this is a great way to bond with your cat as well, so highly recommended. Something like Da Bird or the Cat Catcher which you can find at Petco.

And yes, maybe the tuna juice did alert her to a tastier option than her kibble! LOL! You might have to consider adding some canned food to her diet, and it seems that maybe the fishy flavors might be successful. Plain tuna is not a balanced meal for her, it's fine as occasional treat but you can find balanced cat food cans with tuna in them that would be preferable :)

Tracie, It's going to take time. Who knows how much. Every cat is different. The important thing is to stay patient and keep trying.

I've seen some of the same behavior with Ziggy, our F2 we've had for just a bit more than a month. He does get into playing with us, but I didn't see real joy. The first time I saw the real Ziggy was when he made friends with our cat Jax and they started playing together. Ziggy is now starting to come out of his shell and really enjoy us as well as Jax. And we still have a long way to go.

I don't know if you have any other cats or if Vanna (I like it!) can befriend the Schnauzers, but sometimes another animal friend can get through better than we can.
