Welcome Jen! I'd love to hear about your household and your Servals with your Savannah and Korat! And pictures, post pictures!

I don't know how easy it is to grow rabbits, my impression was it couldn't be hard, after all the saying goes "breed like rabbits"...but a friend of mine tried it a year or so back and really didn't produce too many... I live right in the city so it's not an option for me... but I think it a good idea to at least try out! As long as you think you can handle the slaughtering. I spent some of my childhood on a farm so it doesn't so much horrify me but I did find working in a laboratory and doing some mice experiments that constant killing really affected me long term... so I am obviously not meant to do that kind of thing :-(

My Uncle raised them for food at his ranch in Redbluff, CA. They are very prolific and when it was time to "harvest" them it was quite simple, grab them by the hind legs, hang upside down and a quick whack with a club to the back of the head. Over in about 5 seconds start to finish. No need for a costly CO2 contraption.

Hi Jen, welcome to the forum. This is hands down the most comprehensive SV site on the web. Great information here along with fantastic contributors who truly love the breed. Your entire fur family is beautiful! I wish I could have a Serval to go along with my SV, unfortunately confines prevent it. I'll live vicariously through you for now lol Have your Servals been introduced to your Savannah? Do they get along?

ScottKelly,

Hi, thank you - we are having so much fun. Yes, they have been introduced to Jules a few times. Nancy hides in one of her little homes, Nemo is much more receptive to her... even though Jules seems to scare him some. Jules will walk into their enclosure with her head held up high, practically stating that she is the queen of this castle and he seems to respect that. I love watching their personalities.
