Hi!

@Deborah here is a pic I managed to sneak of my SV and my Boerboel. I don't think Zubi know this piece of incriminating evidence exists ;)

Ok, is Zubi stupid or stubborn? The puppy (20 week Belgian malinois) is tethered to this table. Zubi will not leave the stool even though he's growling and hissing and swatting at the puppy and obviously doesn't want to be friends. Is he trying to prove a point? Not sure what he's proving except he's a glutton for punishment and stubborn. Oh, and Zubi only hangs out on the stools when the puppy is tethered there...

Stubborn and proving a point. He's claiming "his" space and asserting his place in your house to the puppy.

I'd worry things could get out of hand quickly and the puppy could easily pull the table over...not a good scenario as you want them to be friends.

I'd remove Zubi and put him in another area (with some treats or food) when the puppy is tied to the table...not as punishment for Zubi but to remove the threat of either getting hurt by the table and objects (I see a hammer in the red bag) falling. The puppy is only going to learn that Zubi is allowed to be mean to him, and Zubi knows he is alllowed to get away with it.....if the puppy must be contained to a specific area, I think a dog crate is a better option.

She is in a crate when we are not home or not able to keep an eye on her (in the same room where the cats are during the same times). So Zubi sees and smells Misha (the puppy) all day long. We've had Misha for a couple of months and they've done this a few times. She cannot pull the table over as she's tethered at the bottom. She's super high energy and wants to chase the cats (the main reason she's tethered in the main area of the home) but not hurt them. I wasn't sure if I should remove Zubi or not since he could easily get away and was choosing to stay...I know he's definitely not afraid. And he sleeps with my 125 lb mastiff. Not sure which is more stubborn: Zubi or Misha :/. So not sure who will ever back down first...

If Misha is chasing the cats, then Zubi already knows she cannot while tethered, and his insistence on being near her swatting and hissing shows he is unhappy with the relationship with Misha. His swatting and hissing is not fair to the dog and will only aggravate, not help this situation. Hopefully you can find something in these links to help teach Misha cats are not to be chased :)

Thank you! I will try to keep them separated until I work on training Misha more. She can sit, but we've not started on stay yet.
I really appreciate the feedback from someone who can see from an unbiased outside perspective.

I agree with Pam, you are creating an atmosphere of hostility and resentment by tethering Misha where Zubi hangs out. If Zubi feels that strongly about the stool being his then I would tether Misha somewhere else. Otherwise I would remove Zubi and put him somewhere high up where he knows the dog can't reach him, before tehering Misha to the table. The links Pam provided should help give you some ideas on how to better integrate your furry family members. Clicker training has also been successfully used in the past as well.

Zubi is such a tease *sigh*.
But when Misha is not crated, Zubi is much more relaxed around her and doesn't run, much to Misha's chagrin haha!
