How to Clean a Cat's Ears

My kitten came with a very bad infestation of ear mites. Her doctor showed me how to clean them out. When he did it the first time the Qtip was completely dark brown. Even though she was on revolution her doctor felt it was necessary to administer ear mite medication drops. on the bathroom counter I would continue daily to clean out dark brown stuff giving treats while I was busy working. She would shake her head but tolerated it extremely well. I think she was happy to finally get the itch scratched. No more mites but now and again I still repeat the same process just to keep her used to it. And it has worked very well. She is a bit fussy at first but settles down quickly, this way she is always in training. Oh and her doctor said as long as you can see the tip of the Qtip while your cleaning your not injuring the ear.

Good post - thanks for sharing...be sure to continue revolution once a month to avoid reinfestation

Absolutely, I agree! However, doctor is holding off ( have this time window only due to the fact she does not go outside unattended) on revolution for a few days. Because kitty is on such strong compounds for all intestinal invaders she came with.
