Incision after surgery

If she is not in pain, which she obviously is not playing full spreed, then she is OK. And I hate to be tough with you, but stop worrying MOM. She may have irritated it somehow to make it red again. Like Rafiki said some days will be red some not. Just be calm John. She is fine.

Thanks Man... I cannot with 100 percent say she is not in pain, but if she is, she is doing a good job covering it up and not slowing down... Trying to slow her down is difficult (as I am sure you realize).

Red angry lines and heat coming off the incision and new puffiness at the site is what I would be concerned about.

Pleae clarify (Angry Lines), as far as heat goes the incision is 98 degrees and the rest of her belly area is 96. That is measured with an Infrared Thermometer. The only red line is the very center of the incision.

In concerns to being a Worrying Mom, it is hard not too... Elsa after almost losing her, I am just so protective of her and we are so very close.... I try to watch and monitor every detail.... After loosing Sylvester last year, if I had paid attention to more details, I may still have him today.

Oh and a healing incision is always firmer than the surrounding tissue. The skin bonding process does that and if it was sealed with glue then that will be firm too. It mat be months before the firm ridge goes away. She is going to be just fine. I care for her too John. I would not lie to you. :)

John I fully understand. I am sorry if I am stirring old wounds. Forgive me please.

You are not, I want feedback... One of the biggest reasons that I am in this chat group is for support. You are giving me exactly what I am asking for. I am posting the updated progress of this incision so that more experienced people can tell me if it is good, bad, indifferent. I just can't wait until it is 100% healed and the fur has grown back, and maybe someone else going through the same thing can reference this thread and see the progress and have a better idea of what to expect... I think you for your opinions and I respect it.

I was a lot like you when my Guinevere ( a yellow tabby ) was spayed. I was a basket case. My wife would actually get mad at me for worrying so much. In the end, she was fine. Guin's incision was red and hard too. But she had stitches and had the old fashioned surgery. And John. She licked her belly after she healed to the day she died. She had a hairless belly. Licked the hair right off. Strange girl.

Elsa is basically OCD... She cleans everything except for her incision... She cleans my Hands, Feet, Jake.... I am surprised her tongue has not gotten smooth just from over use...:rolleyes::rolleyes:. The only fur she is missing however is what was shaved, and I hope it returns soon.

She will be fine. But you keep watching things. She is special and needs special attention.
