definitely with a friend. with the proper introduction, both kitties should get along just fine with each other!

I have 2 pet savannah boys who grew up with a rescued barn cat. the barn cat had to have a leg amputated and is now three legged. she and one of the savannahs, who happens to be our largest one at 17lbs and is capable of standing up on his back legs, resting his chin on the kitchen counter and swiping anything he wants, were best friends and still get along great! she was in the house for two years before the savannah boys came in. additionally, I have 3 breeder savannah girls and another rescued barn cat in the home now. All get along pretty well with each other (but we have well over 3000 sq ft of house for them to roam in).

Thanks Cate. That's encouraging. I assume you introduced them slowly using well published techniques? My place is small at 650sqft and I'll likely move soon, but I'm tired of putting my life on hold due to a possible move (was waiting to move before getting new kitty).

Wait till you move, she needs to be comfortable in her new home before you bring in a kitten... especially a SV baby, they are SO impressionable & if she decides to blame her stress on him.....TROUBLE! Can I ask you, WHY an SV instead of another like what you have? Trooper (a gift for my son) had a hard time with Eddie at first because Maine Coons & SVs both make "weird" noises while playing & I'm pretty sure they kinda freaked each other out not understanding the play behavior of a different breed...Eiswein (my Xmas gift), another Maine Coon gets along great with Eddie but I think it's because Trooper already "Maine Coon" trained Eddie. You definitely want a boy, she is a laid back young lady but WILL dominate in another year, possibly only tolerating the male & the breeder is going to make 1 heck of a difference for a guy smart enough to know to ask the right questions before plunging in... nice job! If you ask about Breeder/customer relations you will find a select few who are right next to you to walk you through the hard times & a whole bunch that wave you out of the way so they can sell the next kitten....here on this Forum....you are sure to find that "perfect" Breeder.

Thanks for input Eddie. I'm talking to DocMac and she seems great. I like Savannahs because they seem smart and I like their wild side. The moving thing is tough, I've got a back and forth about moving or staying put. Pretty nervous about making my current kitty mad or changing her, she is so affectionate and kind but is bored at times and I'd make her life better not worse if I can.

So a serious question for you, if you get a new kitten & the older kitten gets stressed what are your plans? Also why is the move indecisive? Are you not moving because of the cat or because of other issues? A savannah will definitely amuse & entertain your little princess, it's the moving I would worry about, do it before the new baby gets there so the princess does not associate her insecurity with the new kitty & the new kitty only has to acclimate to 1 new home; see post: Elsa is not happy... sometimes moving is not an option, humans must work to survive...but WHEN to buy a kitten is always up for debate.

The move is just an upgrade to a bigger place. Current one is 650sqft and I think it's tight for 2 cats and me but there's no real need for me to move. I can stay there for another year no problem. Ideally I find a place in the next month and the cat has a month to acclimate before the F3 kitten that was just born which I'm interested in can move in. If it doesn't work then I'd look to give him back to breeder and lose $2k. It seems crazy to rush buying a several hundred thousand dollar home to accommodate kitty but I feel like that's what's going on and it's stressful.
