Intro Thread!

Handling an SV kitten should be like trying to wrestle an eel, you think you have a grip but you really aren't used to it!

I am happy to read about your trip report! It looks like you are going to be accepted by Atlas into the pack. It's really quite something how confident and socialized SVs are after adopting pound hellions.

A very short, tight coat probably comes from the Oriental Shorthair. A Savannah's coat should lack resilience - that means if you brush against the direction it is laying it should stay up instead of snapping back into place.

well time for an update, i was going to post sooner but my main pc has been crashing constantly (think my SSD hard drive might be dying). i took the week off work and was too lazy to get my laptop from the car lol.


so the overall journey went by much faster then i thought. Sunday took forever to come, the week at work was extremely slow. Exotic tails is about a 1.5 hour drive each way from where i live and i didnt want to travel alone. my brother took on the mission of driving me out, who also lives 1 hour away from me. his overall travel time was 5 hours, so i was glad he was up for the task (i provided food, gas and stuff to help.)

i was told i needed to bring a crate for Atlas, so he was secured for the ride home. we loaded him up and he was not very impressed




after we got onto the highway, it was about 1 hour of pure cruising. i couldnt listen to him crying the entire time so i let him wander around, leaving the door open for when he wanted to go back in. after the door opened, he started to explore right away, and was not scared. he also stopped crying the second the door opened, and remained quiet the entire ride with the occasional hellos.

i put him back in his crate to transport him from the truck to the house. we have 4 other cats in the house right now, so i didnt want any face time until he was adjusted. i set him up in quarantine in my room, which is more or less the basement. this is what his area looks like, he has lots of hiding spaces, and things to play on. the bed also connects to the cat tree, and computer desk so he can walk around almost the entire place without being on the floor. also under the bed is a jungle gym for him as well




as soon he came out of the crate he was eager to explore, starting with his safe spot under the bed. it took him about 5 minutes to open up to me and my brother and immediately started to play. he would only run under the bed when he heard new noises he wasnt familiar with. also found out, this was a bad spot to put his food/water lol

after this initial look, he hasnt really taken much interest in the fish tank yet

slept like this for like 30 mins



and now he is up (has a serval look here)

thanks! the best part of that pic is, i was trying to do this post at that time and my computer froze. so i had to sit there until he woke up to reboot it/turn it off lol
