Introducing our Savannahs to others and how to tell if they are bonded to us

We are getting our two savannah kittens in just 10 days. We are getting an F2 female named Sadie and an F3 male named Obi. We were originally just going to get Obi but the two of them were both only litters and strongly bonded to each other and we thought it might be easier on them to have a playmate.

My question is: we have a lot of friends that are very excited to meet our kittens, but we want to make sure that they have properly bonded to us first. Is there a good timeline for when we can bring others into our house? How do we know when they have bonded to us enough? We want to socialize them with small children and dogs because our friends and family have dogs and babies, but when should we start that process?

Thank you!

Personally, you are there every day and night... your visitors aren't. I don't believe that their visits will impact your bonding.

I'm more thinking "start as you mean to go on" when it comes to having people to your house. If you want them to be social, be sure to keep people coming to your home past that initial curious rush... kittens are usually adaptive social beings, the harder work keeping them social will be when they are a little older.

A few things that suggest your Savannahs are bonded to you:

They follow you everywhere
They greet you at the door when you come home
They choose your lap over each others' company

Being as they are already bonded to each other, it may be more difficult to get them to bond to you. If you find this is the case you may want to consider separating them and spending several hours a day with just one at a time playing with them, feeding them, loving on them, etc.

IMO, visitors should be allowed to see the kittens only after their 2 week quarantine is up. Give the kittens time to adapt to and settle in to the new surroundings and new family.
