Introducing Zuri!

;) I kinda figured it out from Paige's post. But it is nice to know "the man" is a person named Danny. And it IS a good job on the catio. :)

After only 5 days, I was able to touch his paws tonight. He is a lot bigger than we realized. First time we saw him truly relaxed and showed no fear. Much more red in color that my phone shows. He and I played until he was exhausted. He is such a sweet boy.

Wonderful to hear, Laura...absolutely wonderful :) Zuri looks happy in your pics...calm and secure. He's a gorgeous boy and we could not be happier to know he is in his right home :)

Laura, Zuri is beautiful. I'm so glad you got him. Sounds like you're just what he needs.

I'm hiding my phone from my cats as I don't have a catio...they only get to go out on leash, and would love their own space outside--Oni especially.

Ziggy (also a F2 rescue) can be a bit intimidating too, not so much with me (except when he snags a chicken leg...), but more with my wife. Interestingly, we went to Prague for 2.5 weeks and he is better with her now--he comes and sits in her lap now and then.

Zuri's going to be so happy.

Chris.

Home 1 week today and it's been a good day! He met Monte our bassett/doxie and Gretchen our miniature schnauzer while he was in the catio. A little bit of hissing on his part upon initially meeting Monte, then wandered around the edges of catio looking for Monte as Monte was sniffing around the outside. Came nose to nose again and no hissing at all, just very curious. Gretchen didn't even notice him or pay attention despite my attempts to get her to sniff noses. Zuri was fine with her right up against the catio.

He stayed out in the catio watching me wrap a board in sisal going in and out of the office a couple times. Stayed out a couple hours until it started to get warmer. No fear at all.

Continues to eat and drink well and great litter box habits. I'm pretty happy about how he is adjusting. He hasn't had any interaction with the other cats other than the night he and Mitzi played under the door. They act like they don't even know he is here despite sniffing around the door to the office and his carrier I left outside of the door for a few days.

Sounds like Zuri and all of you are doing great.

I'd encourage you to keep Zuri isolated until you feel he has bonded with you and your husband. We had a forced 3-week isolation with Ziggy because he was way behind on his rabies shots, and it really helped, I think. We added an additional week or more of slow introductions, using a small dog crate and walking Ziggy around the house on a leash.

Best wishes!
Chris.

We won't be rushing anything. This isn't our first time introducing a new SV. He isn't anywhere close to as bad as Echo was when he came into our home.

So glad to hear the positive update on Zuri! Of course he's spoiled rotten with that catio, so no wonder he's on good behavior!
