Is Jute safe? - Making cat toys

I want to make some toys for my savannah and bengal (I suspect the other 2 moggies are too lazy!)

I know sisal is safe, but is jute? I've brought it from B&Q and it doesn't seem treated, so...

I've never worked with jute before, but I would think as long as it's not treated with anything it should be fine to use.

I can't find anything saying that jute is toxic to cats on the internet, so I'd assume it was pretty safe if not treated with any noxious chemicals..

Here's my attempt at a cat toy... No interest so far in it, I might have to get some catnip?

It looks cute enough, but what will appeal to a cat is anyone's guess! LOL!

Yep! She was playing with something like it at the breeder's hence the idea...

Also means we have a ton of sisal for when we need to sort out scratching posts...

Yes, you can try sprinkling it with catnip. Also try tossing it to see if she will fetch - it looks like a very fetching toy (pun intended )

You can also get catnip spray, which doesn't make as much of a mess as dried catnip.
