No, and the ELISA test that they do in-house for FeLV is notorious for false positives. I imagine the vet sent off a blood sample for the IFA test to confirm FeLV so I would hold tight until the results of that come back. I myself have had a cat that had a false positive and it freaked me out. She also had exceedingly low blood cells (although more dire than your cat) and I believe that the out of balance blood can result in that false positive. When she had recovered some of her blood cells (she was lacking white, red cells and platelets) she no longer tested positive and never did on the IFA confirmatory test nor the bone marrow test that was done.

I would continue with the doxy and prednisone if he's doing better on it and hold tight. I will be crossing paws over here that it was a false positive test!

I wouldn't get the Felv vaccine for an indoor cat either. I was asking because the SNAP test they do in the office is very prone to false positives, but especially if they have had the Felv vaccine.

Thanks Brigitte! Thank you so much for your valuable information! This definitely came as a shock! Youre right, i freaked out! I was trying to figure out, what is in this apartment that could hurt my kitty! Plus i started reading what the disease entail and the more i read the more freaked out i got. Especially when it said cats sometimes die within a year! Then there's the cost of everything! yikes! But I will hold tight and wait! Thanks again and paws crossed!

OH no, I looked up Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PK Deficiency)! I should have spelled it out instead of saying PKD.

I dont know what else to do.
So Loki (an f6 9 month old male Savannah) normally follow me around the house. If I go pee hes sitting right there. If I take a shower hes sitting looking in the shower waiting on me to get out. He even sleeps with me. But lately he has been really quiet and totally antisocial.

It just seems like he doesnt want to play or anything. I tried playing with him with his wand and he just looks at it. He use to love when I would hide from him and would come running up as I jumped out at him. Now he just stand back and wait for me to look out. And even then he just looks at me. This has been going on for about a week.Now he likes to sleep in the junk spare room.

The other day I threw some deflated floats in the room and now he sleeps on them. Once I picked him up and brought him in my bedroom where he use to sleep and he jumped off the bed and went back to his "Floaties". He is eating well and he pees and poops. As a matter of fact, he comes and wake me in the morning for food. But other than that he seems like he just wants to sleep.

I work all day but I have tons of toys out for him, I keep the TV on and the blinds up so he can look out the widow. When I come home I try to play with him. But like I said he doesn't play anymore. I called the vet and have an appt for him on Monday. But do u guys have any suggestions? Just so confused at the 180 turn. Ugh! Savannah's are so confusing to me. So sad right now.

***UPDATE*** Sorry it took so long to respond, unfortunately I had a death in the family. But the good news is that Loki is fine. The test came back negative for feline leukemia and after taking the antibiotic medicine and the steroid medicine, he is feeling a thousand times better!!!! He is running, playing fetch and is back to his normal self! Thanks for the prayers and kind words!!!!
