She is looking good, Paul! What type of heart condition does she have?

We took her to the vet that Monday after getting her. She was underweight, had a black eye secretion that was bad enough we didn't know she had a pink nose and the tech and vet immediately noticed a heart murmur. So, we got some eye drops for her (2 weeks on that last Monday) and her eyes are much clearer and brighter. We also took her to a Cardiologist to diagnose her further. So she murmur and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (Heart disease) Her consistent heart beat is at 120 where most normal cats fluctuate between 180-200. The cardiologist ran all the tests she could. She did the original ultrasound we paid for and anything else she normally does. Then, she also did an electrical current test and a couple other things for free because she was very happy we are giving Jakarta a loving home and the care she needs. The cardiologist said Jakarta's heart is on the 2nd out of three bypass currents. She has lots of scar tissue around her heart which makes it harder to beat properly. Because her heart cannot beat normally and is on the 2nd bypass current, makes it so her heart does not fluctuate, it stays at the 120bpm. She said once the 2nd current wears out, the heart slows to about 60bpm and she will start passing out randomly. But we dont know how fast its progressing yet, so we have to check back in 6 months. The vet says she needs to live a very sedate life from now on.

The breeder asked if we wanted to give her back after finding out about all of that... We said hell no. We'd rather be able to give her a loving family and the care she needs for the rest of her life, however long that might be. :)
