So, unfortunately I have to post here again.
On Saturday, Mickey threw up 10 times, so off to the vet we went. We think he ate part of a ziplock bag he stole from the closed trash can (we are not sure how he got it, but we found the shredded bag on the floor- best guess is that Jarvis stepped on the footpetal for him, and he stole the bag from the trash can, standing on the window sill). Exrays, hydration under the skin, and two shots later, he is once again fine, thank goodness. I have tried so hard to make our house safe. New, secure fish tank. New, strong stainless steel garbage can. Child safe electrical outlets (yes, he will try to stick his claws in them). No exposed lighting wires. Computer and phone chargers in a rome he can't get into. And I STILL feel like I can't keep him safe.
We have a new behavioral issue.
Mickey is attempting to get at our stove in the evenings. We cook dinner, and he behaves. We clean up, and he behaves. We finish cleaning up, and turn our backs, and he gets up on the counter and then up onto the stove. We are not leaving food out. We give him some treats (chicken usually) either while we eat or immediately after.
I am terrified he is going to burn himself. And I can't seem to get him to stop. He isn't afraid of being squirted (even with the kitchen sink hose). He just crouches down when he hears a loud noise. He looks me right in the eye and ignores me. We have an open floor plan, so there is no door to close unless I lock him up in his room. HELP.
