So I had a very interesting vet visit the other day. I had called to make an appointment for a follow up on both of them after their surgeries and also because Leo has a tiny bit of dried black crud in both his nostrils every day, just a tiny little bit. He has had this since I got him and hasn't seemed sick. Very healthy appetite, very active, and very affectionate, but now he has started with a sneeze here and there.
When I got Smooch one side of her ribs tucked under a bit. The breeder had let me know and that her vet had examined her and felt as though it wasn't an issue. I could have chosen another kitten but I did the research and decided that I was prepared to deal with whatever needed to be done if it did turn into an issue. She is very active, healthy appetite and growing well, but I wanted an xray to confirm this when she was under for the surgery. I mentioned that I also wanted to discuss the xray with the doc when I made the appointment.
I said in an earlier post that Smooch went savage and terrorized everyone there so I also wanted an easy visit for her to try and get her and them past that.
We got there and although Smooch was nervous all 4 assistants came in and spoke to her and gave her treats and she was fine and starting to relax and even play a bit. When the vet came in she flattened her ears, hissed at him, and backed into my arms snarling and hissing at him. I held her and told her calmly okay enough and she quieted but would not take her eyes off him. When he spoke she started yelling at him. The vet then proceeded to start lecturing me about not making an appointment for Smooch when in fact I clearly did. He then started demanding to know who the receptionist was. He was being so aggressive that even if I did remember I wouldn't have told him. Smooch started yelling louder and I think I may have actually heard her call him a name that I was kinda thinking myself.
Leo was fine through all of this and busy trying to figure a way up to the side table to get at the fun things the doc keeps there.
He really couldn't give me any solid information about the xray except that her diaphragm is slightly tilted. Needless to say I believe how Smooch feels about him and will be finding a new vet. Sad, because everyone else who worked there was very nice.
We are trying a round of clavamox for Leo to see if it clears things up.
