My goodness, Smooch is growing up to be a gorgeous girl!

Paige, a smooth collie is a short hair but they still have a bit of a ruff around the neck. I guess I should say shorter hair as I think it's longer than my lab or basset hounds were but much shorter than a regular "rough" collie.

Too funny about Atticus and his slapping! Really need a photo. It's so hard with Leo because I should be annoyed at him for nipping at me but as soon as he realizes I am annoyed and ignoring him he starts mewing and squeaking and tapping me to be picked up and loved. He really is the most affectionate cat I have ever met except for those sassy moments when I catch him trying to stuff himself into the tissue box.

So Leo grudgingly allows me to cut all of his nails. He doesn't like it but doesn't fight it. Smooch is unbelievably difficult. It could take me all day to get ONE nail. Today I finally dumped an entire bag of treats on the bed and while she was having at it I wrangled a paw, clipped ONE nail, then scooped up most of the treats. I tried using clothespins on her and she just got up and walked away like nothing was different. They were the large plastic ones and not very strong. Any tricks anyone uses would be greatly appreciated, including favorite nail clippers. I am currently using the regular scissor type.

Surround sound kittens, please forgive the dust and those are placemats with sticky tape to deter them from chasing things on the TV.

I have actually used the large (2" wide) binder clips - amazingly they don't seem to hurt that cat at all, but will subdue almost all of them so that I can clip nails. I usually use two for adults, one behind the other along the ruff of the neck.

Sorry for not posting or commenting too much lately. My mom passed away after a very difficult year for her. She was suffering with severe osteoporosis and there wasn't much that could help with her pain. She was 89 and a very good woman who will be missed by many.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. My mother is also 89 and suffers from osteoporosis so I completely understand your heartache. It is so difficult to watch them suffer knowing there is nothing you can do.

Thank you Rafiki and Patti. Leo, Smooch, and Miss Piggy had all stepped up their affections and attention to me and helped me through a difficult time. Lots of purr therapy.
