Most contracts (you should check out the wording of yours) require you to take the kitten to the vet within 72 hours of receiving your kitten. So yes you can take your kitten home for a day or two but it needs to be within 3 days...

Yes, its within 72 hours of receiving the kitten. That seems like the best thing to do after they've had their flight.

Good to know. :)

I actually was wondering what I should do once I receive the kitten. I need to have the kitten examined when I receive it. Is it better to take it home for a few days first and then take it for the examination? I will be taking them to Oradell Animal Hospital in Fort Lee.

Oradell is in Oradell, last I knew...or do they have a satellite in Ft. Lee? Have you thought about Cats Exclusive in Ridgefield? You would take Bergen Blvd right off of Main St and it is 5 min. it is not far from you and is where I go...they take care of Zuri, Taj and took care of all seven of Zuri's kittens...they are cats only and by far, the best around in our area.

You will only have 3 days to take the kitten to the vet, so be sure to do so in that timeframe.

This is the branch I was speaking about. http://oradell.com/fort-lee-office/
Friend of mine that have normal cats have recommended it, and the reviews seem to be great although they are really expensive. I haven't heard about Cats exclusive, but if you recommend it then I will give them a call when I'm closer to planning Nero's arrival. Thanks for the tip.

Wow, I didn't know they had a branch in Ft. Lee...Oradell Animal Hospital is about 10 min from me. I use them for dire emergencies only and drive 30-40 min to Cats Exclusive. I love the fact that they see cats only...Oradell is VERY expensive...Cats Exclusive is expensive, but Oradell tops them...be sure to get pet insurance, if you can afford it.

I actually was very interested in medical insurance, but I can't find any accurate quotes for savannahs. I put in Bengals in the mean time to check rough prices. Do you recommend any companies in particular that I should check?

I did a comparative analysis of all the companies when I first looked into it and Trupanion was by far the best...

Taj got very sick when he was about 10months old and Trupanion paid out over $5000...recently Zuri became very ill a day after she had kittens and they paid out over $4000...a month later my DSH became quite ill and they paid out $2500...I was afraid they would drop me and when I spoke to the Trupanion rep, he assured me that my bills were relatively low compared to some NYC bills ;)

So they do not drop you just because you file a claim...or several...
