Savannah Kitten
Hi,
I have a 4 month old f6 female spayed savannah who came home around 12 weeks. She was on clumping litter from the breeder and I had her in quarantine for about 4 days (I know they say 2 weeks minimum). she just cried and wanted to be cuddled. She seems to be having a really good transition and I feel I've bonded with her very strongly in such a short time. I just love her to death she is everything I imagined her to be with a great personality to fit my family. She was also using her litter box with no issues until I decided to change it to pine pellets. I did a transition over one week. When about 75 percent of the litter box was pine pellets I took out all the clumping litter completely. I prefer the pine pellets way more since they don't track around the house and are a breeze to clean compared to clay litters in my opinion and my house doesnt stink. I also clean the litter almost immediately after she's poops and daily for urniation. Anyways I caught her peeing in my son's bed right after I put her in the box to show her again that this is yours etc since it's new. I had to throw out the mattress she was probably peeing tbere all day. I was so angry. I picked her up showed her what she did told her bad girl and put her in her litter box. Grabbed her food water bed and favourite toy and quarantined her in the bathroom where her litter already was. She hates it and just cries and sctrahes. I feel bad is this the right thing to do? Or should I let her out? How do i get her to stop this.
I should probably add that I also have another cat. A 11 week old f2 male not neutered. I've had him for about 1 and a half weeks. He is still in his own quarantine and I let him out for a few hours daily to explore and mingle with the family and with my other cat. They get along great and I've even caught them cuddling and bathing eachother. He also seems to be having a smooth transition except I've caught him pooping and peeing in my bathtub a few times. I would much rather that then a bed cleaning it is not a problem at all lol. The litter box is right beside the bathtub so it confuses me. He using pine pellets also and was already using them from the breeder. How can i fox these issues before they become habits? I can't afford to throw out another mattress.
