Loud Whining at the Door

You can also try not taking your cat directly through the door to stop this behavior... do you carry or lead her through that door and that is why she is focused there? I've always put my cats in harnesses well away from the door, I used a stool in the kitchen area with one cat and so she'd always jump up there and purr loudly at me anytime I came by in anticipation. Additionally, I have had pet owners that put the cat in a carrier to then take outside...then the cat is associating the crate with walks not the door. Might help make the cat carrier a good thing!

I've always just put the harness on by the door and then lead her outside. I don't have a carrier for her right now...should I maybe harness her elsewhere and then carry her through the door?

I'd also consider getting a carrier...you never know when you will need one! What if she has to go to the vet suddenly and is too ill to be on a leash? Accidents happen and cats get sick...every home should have one carrier for emergencies, even if they have more than one cat and only one carrier! Places like Walmart etc carry fairly inexpensive ones I think...

Yea...will do. It was definitely on the list of the things I was planning to get for her soon, just hadn't quite gotten around to it yet.

We've been lucky in that department. As long as Kovu has a window he can look out, he is all good. :)

I agree on having at least 1 carrier. I have seen them at Goodwill and other thrift stores when I have been donating items. Sue
