Thank you for the information. I'll have to let her know and tell her to do some more research before she decides. I don't think she knows what she's in for. I've always fixed my animals! Breeding is interesting to me but I don't think I could really do it. MIL has been breeding Newfoundlands for a little while but the dogs have a massive enclosure outside so they don't mess up the house.

I've been trying to find some images on smoke Savannahs but I pretty much come up with nothing! Are smokes not as popular?
Smokes are not as common as BSTs- I'd probably say they are not as popular, but I'd be beat here because a lot of people do LOVE the smokes, but they don't own them. My smoke girl is one of the very few they've seen out in the show halls- I just enjoy the coloring :) It is very unique!

Here is another pic of Vixen... Unfortunately, my home pics don't show her off as nicely as her show pics!

She's adorable! Your home pics do her justice, I can only imagine the show pics!

Welcome, Patrycja!

I second the encouragement to fix/alter all the kitties...it's a sad situation to come from and no need to perpetuate this cycle of unpapered cats where you don't know their actual heritage! And all those disadvantages Trish mentions are the "ugly" side of breeding, it's not for the faint of heart and very different from breeding dogs..or horses (which I grew up with both of those).

Better to start a program with pedigreed cats where you know they aren't related for example!

As to smoke Savannahs, my very first Savannah male breeder was a black smoke male, Leroy. He didn't turn out fertile (our males can have fertility woes so we kept him intact for over two years to no avail), they do occur but are relatively rare as are the solid black ones. Both rely on a recessive gene so are not as common as the brown spotted and silver spotted Savannahs. They don't always tend to be as dramatic in looks so most breeders aim for either brown or silver spotted Savannahs. Although one of my favorites produced here is a solid black one :)

Hope your Lowkey warms to you soon... spending time and finding things he likes is key to making friends. Finding a food he loves to tempt him with can work, or a toy he likes to play with... but as long as you are patient and loving I am sure he will come around and be the best pet you've ever had :)

Thanks for the welcome you guys! My DSH tortie had an asthma attack after work so I rushed her to the vet for a shot. My hubby and I had thought that maybe she had some respiratory infection and that the first steroid shot they had given her had fixed it because it lasted a lot longer then they said it would. Stupid me. I felt so bad I wanted to cry. She still hasn't eaten since breakfast yesterday. Hopefully after work today she'll be hungry. After that fiasco I spent most of my time with her so I wasn't able to get any pictures of Lowkey. I will try to do that today.

In other news he has warmed up quite a bit! He still doesn't exactly come to me for pets, but he'll let me stroke him as he walks around me, meowing (more like crying) the whole time. He managed to escape the computer room twice this morning and now that he knows his environment is huge, he won't stop clawing/meowing at the door to be let out. I tried squirting water at his arms when he reached under and it deters him for a few moments, but then he starts again. There goes my deposit! :)

I plan on talking to the MIL about fixing her kitties. She'll be happier and so will they. Thank you all for the great advice. I'm very excited to see how Lowkey will look when he's older but I want to cherish his kitten-hood. They grow up too fast!

I'll try to get some pictures up today! I'll try to see if the ones I have on my phone are any good. Should I post them here or the forum for kitty pics?
