LML, where did you first contact "Paul" from? Was it an ad on a website or did you access his email or website via savannahcat.com ...this may helps us work out what is happening.

I emailed him at the address listed on his website. He emailed me back with pictures of the kitten, but when I emailed him with an offer a week or two later, he then replied using the fake account (I just noticed this..). Sigh, very odd. Thankfully I just called paypal and got all my money back.

I am going to call Paul tomorrow, though, and let him know I'm aware of what happened. I still want to believe that he is not behind it (maybe someone is sneaking into his account or has emails forwarded to their account?) because he is a reputable breeder and I don't think he'd risk the reputation of his cattery... but if it is him, he will know that people are onto whatever he is trying to pull, and if it is not him, he will know to change emails or do a security scan or something...

I for one love for the new owners to pick up their baby here. On the other hand I do not allow people to come for tours. I have my kitten's safety and health to consider and the cons far outweigh the pros;>( After a deposit is received the new owner is encouraged to pick their baby in person. As Brigitte stated...some will do well being shipped while others do not. If I feel the kitten will not ship well...there is no way I will allow them to fly unless the new owner picks them up and the kitten flies with them. Healthy is the number one requirement as I think socialization should be one of those things that would be expected without saying.
