Need advice on adopting a 6 year old male f1 !!

if he is an indoor cat is there really a point of that collar ? he would probably be alot happier with it off
Did the invisible fence thing even work? I always imagined a cat doing exactly what my beagle did when a well-meaning friend put one on him when petsitting him. He got to the boundary, got zapped by the collar and just took off running. Fail. I've never really heard of a cat being contained by this kind of thing.

As to giving him Whiskas... a sudden change of diet like that can cause gastrointestinal upset. If he hasn't used the litterbox yet maybe that will be a good thing, but I would be more inclined to treat him with something like pure meat not a lesser quality canned food. Giving a cat chicken meat for example doesn't tend to upset their system, it's all the other stuff in canned diets that can upset their system. When changing kibble brands or wet food brands you really need to transition slowly.

Hopefully you will soon be able to get close enough to him to take the collar off, unless you brought the entire system home with you?
Whiskas is somewhat like junk food so I'm sure he enjoyed it, but as Brigitte said it might upset his tummy. Look for freeze dried chicken (or other real meat/organ) snacks - these should not give him any GI issues, and may provide a vehicle for you to get closer to him by feeding him these snacks out of your hand.
