I agree... most the time the female Savannah even if smaller will be the ringleader of all mischief and most definitely in charge ;-)

Let us know how that goes please. I have all males and it's fascinating to watch the subtle and the obvious changes in friendship and hierarchy that occur particularly when I added an F2 kitten to the house with two 3yr old F2s. I'm curious about what adding a female to the mix will do.

This will be our first female savannah, and I can't wait to get her here!!! Shes a gorgeous kitten already at 5 weeks, I can only imagine how elegant and exotic she will be fully grown!!!

Well, the story continues lol!!! I bought some new tips for the wand this morning in hopes of getting Apollo involved again, and oooo boy did he get involved!!! He was like he used to be-taking charge and catching it mid air w his paws and having it in his mouth before he hit the ground and then prancing around the entire house w his head held high and his tail straight up!!! Then he would come give me some love and rub and headbutt my legs and finally drop it at my feet and look at me with "the look" that Im sure you all know plenty about! He actually loved on me more today than he ever has when playing with a toy before, which was awesome!!!

Thid whole time though, Rocky was crouched down in the corner planning his move no doubt lol...after 3 or 4 rounds of Apollo playing catch and release it was HIS turn...and he did the same as last time, when he caught it he dragged it under a table (tangling the rope up) and guarded it. A treat wouldnt even convince him to turn loose of it-which blows my mind as he is the biggest sucker for treats ever!!! When he finally did turn it loose they chased it together and when Apollo caught it-it was his routine prance and dropping it ay my feet...but everytime rocky gets it he hides and guards it....

Thoughts anyone?

I take it that you want Rocky to "give" the toy like Apollo does? What I usually do with my cats is that if they won't give it back, and I say "give" firmly and tug the string a little (but not enough to break it) and they don't. I just drop the wand and leave the room. They learn that if they don't "give" then play is over. Generally they learn to give the toy back... some are more persistent than others though!

It sounds like rocky is just playing differently now than he used to...and is exerting some kind of dominance over Apollo...

I will try that Brigitte!!! Seems like it would work great considering they never leave the room im in and stay by my side conatantly!!! I am grilling out right now and they are both laying right inside the door watching me through the french door windows lol...

Paige, do you think Rocky growling and puffing up the ENTIRE time he has the toy is a dominance thing towards Apollo or towards the whole house...because he NEVER growls at me and is the sweetest cat ever-except when he has this particilar toy in his jaws!!! He will let me take it from him (with some work) but i was just wondering ur opinion
