Neuter for papers from breeder

Hi all

Sorry if this has been asked before....

I am 100% getting Maverick neutered in a few weeks. There is no way I want to risk him spraying and getting a horny little bugger

My question is this....as he is Sterile anyway (F3), why will a breeder only supply pedigree/TICA paper once I have proved he has been neutered?

Just wondered...thanks guys

It depends on the breeder. I never had to show proof of F2 male Shango's neuter before I got his TICA paperwork even though I did have him neutered. It sounds like it's just something this breeder has as part of their contract. Maybe because they know it's the best thing to have done for non breeders and this is their way of helping to ensure it gets done.

As Patti has said, most responsible breeders have simply gone to early spay & neuter to ensure that the kittens do get altered. Most pet owners have vague intentions of doing it but often put it off again and again until there is a problem.... It most likely is just a general contract clause.

You should however have been able to get a pedigree before deciding to purchase, but the TICA registration withheld until proof of neuter..

Thanks. Yes, think the contract was a standard one (covers all). Breeder said I will get the TICA papers in about 6 weeks. I know it can take this long to get them so all OK.

Calling vet this week to get Maverick booked in for neuter.

He is already part of the family and slept in the bed with us all night last night for the first time (usually he is on and off and under the bed)

The 'paperwork' is instanteous online and the breeder should already have the information to send you to register your Savannah if he/she registered the litter, so I'm not sure why it would take six weeks to get it.
