neutering an f2

hey guys, i have an f2 boy, he is 5 months old on monday, and he's growing so big and fast, he's already way bigger than my fully grown f3. my question is, obviously he's sterile but i do want him neutered to avoid any possible spraying in the future, but does neutering early make their growth slow down, or is it the opposite and allow them to grow for longer, i've had a lot of mixed opinions so far and some that say it makes no diffference, so it's really mostly out of interest!

Neutering early may allow for a larger cat as the growth plates stay open longer. In any event, he is getting to the age where his hormones may start kicking in and he may start spraying. It would be more pleasant and easier for you and the cat if you get him neutered before the spraying begins.

As Witchy says, production of male hormones closes the growth plates, hence early neuter can result in a larger cat. But the biggest incentive to neuter is to make sure you avoid any spraying and other intact male behaviors!

It's sort of a moot point since at five months of age it would no longer be considered early neutering.

I have a F2B male kitten also, that will be 6 months old March 9th and my kitty had the problem with retained testicles...I'm bringing him in to be checked March 13th to see if they are down yet...I wanted to have him neutered by now...but I want him to have a normal surgery for that....the breeder said to wait another month if still not down, and he will be 7 months old. I hope he doesn't start spraying by then....I'm scared to wait past 7 months old! Don't want any spraying!
