New & A Family of 3 Savannahs

Welcome! Gorgeous cats. And ahh, if you have have one for a year, you know the mischief they can get into. My third one is named Mayhem. Any question?

LOL, Mayhem, now that's a GREAT name for a Savannah. Its been almost a year with Makiya. She is just super laid back but almost too smart for us. She plans everything. The opposite is true for Makoi, he's a go with the flow kind of guy who doesn't even know he can jump high. Which is kinda nice since Makiya jumps 5+ feet. Can I ask what you feed yours Rascaldad?

Hello Stacey and crew. Beautiful cats and great pictures. The one shot of Makoi gave me an instant sense of how his coat must feel. He is very striking and looks to me like a lavender. I also love how proud Makiya looks of the job she did on the evil houseplant. :big grin:

Name suggestions for the new boy. Hmmm.... I'll have to ponder and get back to you. It might be best to let him get home and study him a bit before naming. Sometimes they suggest names through their actions and moods.

:) thank you so much Tort518, yes Makoi is a Lavender and super amazing coat. In this shot he was still a little fuzzy and has since lost that but its still so much different than Makiya as she is an F3. Funny how a generation will change there coat a bit.

Welcome and love all your kitties, and love that you take such wonderful pictures of them too :)

Can't imagine keeping plants in the house with my Savannahs... what you captured there is the fate of any potted plant... I can't even seem to keep them in their backyard enclosure too easily! LOL!

Makoi could well be lilac (TICA doesn't use lavender as a term, that is CFA that doesn't allow Savannahs) as his nose really doesn't look like he is a blue. Definitely one of the dilute nonstandard colors, and very pretty(don't tell him I said he was pretty!)..

As to names, you need to go with a theme... where did you find the names of your two other Savannahs? I agree with Pam and Will that finding a different sounding name is essential so they can discern which of them you are talking to (or scolding)... Do you tend to use their full names or shorten them as that is a consideration also...

Ahhhh yes, I was told he was Lavender but definitely not sure what that really means. Lilac could be a better name I guess. His nose is puffy and pink if that helps.

No more plants, those became members to other peoples houses since Makiya takes such good care of protecting us from them.

As for a theme, yes I love that idea. Makiya came from a name we saw and then changed a few letters. Makoi came from looking at Makiya's name and figuring out a way to make it masculine and wowsa's it fits him and her! Funny enough the names are so close but they do not ever get confused. Neither would turn their head for the others name but run to theirs. However, we do want to make sure with our new baby it is different, unique and sexy. :)

Yes, we shorten much of the time although they know their full as well. Makiya or Ky and Makoi or Koi

BTW, do you guys ever notice your SV get so affectionate and happy that their hackles go up? Its the cutest on Makoi. He gets a mohawk when loving on me. He holds my down with his paws and rubs heads and kisses me and bam his mohawk shows.

Stacie, I feed my cats commercial wet food, Royal Canin, Pro Plan, and Fancy Feist grilled. For dry I use Blue Wilderness on demand. I'm not into the raw food. John Popp can give you a lot of information in that area.
My cats are active, lean, and healthy, and from what I read on this forum, rather well behaved.

Hmmm, that eliminates a couple ideas I had. How about Cake, everybody loves cake! ;)

Or maybe Bugati after one of the fastest cars in the world, the Bugati Veyron? Could shorten to Bug.

My F1 Missy gets a fluffy tail just from the sound of my voice, the hair on her spine goes up when very very happy...it seems to be a range of happiness for her, depending on how long it has been since she saw me...

We call it happy tail in our breed, we had to explain it to judges at a cat show as generally speaking that kind of fluffy tail and hair raised on the spine is seen as a cat being freaked out and upset...so judges would be worried. We had to explain that no, it can mean that they are very happy to be there, and to pay more attention to whisker position and ears...
