New owner and new cat...need advice, please.

Have patience. There are quite a few stories around here about cats that were very shy and hardly interactive.... for a long time. But the stories your will find buried in the threads bring out a wonderful cat eventually. The old timers (those with savannahs for over 5 years) will tell your the cats will have their own way of showing you they own and love you. It took 5 years for my son's F3 to really become his best buddy and become a civilized cat. Hang in their, the payoff is well worth it.

Sorry to hear about the setback, but not surprising given his history, and sounds like you are aware of what needs to be done to win him back again. As others have said, it takes time and patience - he is very lucky to have such a patient human!
