non-stop "talking"

It truly sounds as if the Big cat is "calling".... more interaction, less time watching. Eddie has "interactive" toys, some react to movement others shadows (light) & still others that go off randomly...most are actually small dog toys, a baby vibrating toy, & a few just crinkle/crackle when they get moved the smallest bit, @ Easter he got a chicken that drops candy...only we fill it with cat food, his favorite toy...me. Wear those 2 babies out while you take a break from working, when you're walking up & down the stairs maybe you could call for them just to mix it up & drop a treat so they find it later....;we put different treats hidden in "special" places, like their crates (so they will like the crates)... treat when they are being quiet but not sleeping... alternating TV & radio...Eddie loves Beethoven; knocks him right out! lol. I just bought a new mouse from Pet Smart, it has holes for treats like a dogs Kong... took 2 days & now he brings it to me to fill up... in our house "treats" are Blue Wilderness cat food & Blues freeze dried chicken & duck, we use RAW & plain chicken & turkey for a base diet because we use so many "treats". Eddie is bad about not getting his way... has been known to throw keys & money in the garbage, dishes out of the sink, take chunks out my purse & shoes, climbs (not jumps) all the way up the 5 foot tall kitty condo, he jumps up on the 6' one but it's carpet is not as thick, he turns on & off the kitchen light, brings me his leash, practices using the door knobs, jumps on & off the fridge, ninja styles thru the house (runs sideways on the walls), he has once again figured out the cupboard KIDDY LOCKS in 3 days, dusts off the tables...& soon will make me breakfast in bed, but I'm still waiting for that one...my (grown) kids holler because "Eddie gets everything" but he eventually shares with Mojo & Eiswein...otherwise he would just take it from them anyways (yes I tried the 1 for everyone trick repeatedly- he just gathers them all up for a couple days) . Eddies favorite video is ANYTHING Elsa related, talks to her on the laptop... I'm pretty sure if he ever met her he'd be like "I've dreamed of this"...lol. Have fun & introduce the neighbors...

(BACKGROUND: hes a rescue from the spcaLA, suggested aprx 4 yrs old, has had two previous owners and the most previous had kids that were supposedly allergic and that's why they gave him up).

So,

Our new boy Modi has been home with us for about 2 weeks. The past 5 days now he has started meowing at random moments in the late night. He will often wake me and my wife up, he gets very loud. We will give him play time, and give him attention and love before we go to sleep...and within 2 hours or so of being asleep he starts meowing and meowing and trying to wake us up.

He also does this as he walks around the room. He sometimes will do it to get our attention to run the faucet or to get loves. But, he will also just do it to do it. We are going to be taking him to the vet at the end of the week if he doesn't calm down, because we are unsure of what he may be trying to tell us.

This "talking" could go on for 30min periods at a time.

Anyone have any advice or know of this? My bengals liked to talk, but nowhere near as much as him.

We have a 7yr old F2 who is very vocal. I have had him since a kitten so I usually know what he is trying to tell me. We had to put down our other cat a while back who he grew up with and for about two weeks he would roam around the house meowing for a couple of hours each day. He was looking for her and I believe he was crying asking in his cat talk what happened to her, where was she. He has since settled down and is better. It sounds to me as if your cat may be doing the same thing. He is sad that his surroundings have changed and really doesn't know what happened. You may want to have a room you can put the cat in when your sleeping so it doesn't disrupt the family. ( we had to build a room in our basement for ceasar because he was very active at night and always getting into things. He loves his room and goes there to sleep at night and when we go out for long periods during the day so he doesn't get into things.) Give him time to adjust and lots of love and attention during the day and if he is missing previous owner, he will come around. Good Luck
