Hey everyone,
The vet is closed today and I'm hoping someone can help with some answers in regards to Nova's health.
Last week, Thursday I believe, I picked Nova up to bring him downstairs.
As I did he let out a huge sneeze. I didn't know if it was vomit or a sneeze because of how wet it was.
It was like getting sprayed with a water bottle.
After that, we went down stairs and all was well.
The next day, I noticed him sneeze again, but this time there were a few sneezes in a short period of time.
I didn't think anything of it.
He was playing and running around as usual.
Saturday was the same, I began to notice more sneezing.
The wife and I cleaned his room up, dusted etc.
The weather is changing here so I figured maybe it's just dusty.
Well yesterday is when we became alarmed, not only was Nova sneezing often, but he was cuddly.
Nova is very, rarely cuddly during the day.
We sat in the room with him, keeping him away from our other two cats, and Nova was laying in our laps, constantly meowing at us. (He is a very vocal Savannah. He is always talking to us.)
But he was laying on us, letting out little meows, sneezing every 5-10 minutes at least once.
Nova doesn't stop. He's always on the move hunting something or playing with something.
So for him to just lay on us for over an hour, not wanting to play, but cuddling and head butting non-stop, sad to say but that's what alarmed us the most.
We thought back to what's changed over the past week.
The only thing I can think of is the introduction of a Kelp mineral supplement into his diet.
It's a powder that I mix in with his food.
Other than that, nothing has changed.
He's eating and drinking normally.
He's using the litter box as he regularly would - both pee and poop are good.
At around 11 pm last night He started playing as usual.
But this sneezing has me worried.
I read that it could be an upper respiratory issue, but he doesn't have watery eyes, nor even a drippy nose.
His eyes are clear, his ears are clean.
To just look at him you would think that's one healthy cat!
But then why all the sneezing and alarming cuddling!?
Has anyone else had something like this?
