Paw sensitivity- litter recommendations

I have a grand total of 6 litter boxes in my apartment. At least One in each room. It's no problem to do half with pee pads and half with cat attract. And I keep finding Loki peeing on mail and paper plates to begin with. You're right I don't wanna reinforce that.

You may want to talk to your vet as well. Arthritis and pain can be settling in from this prior injury.

True it's worth taking another look at. Also as an update I put critter litter in the box he didn't seem to like the feel of it. Placed a paper towel on top and went right away. Silly me forgot the get puppy pads at the store. I shall update when I give those a go. =]

Ok so update. Took Loki to the vet. Had another set of X-rays taken no fragments everything looks fine. The vet doesn't think he has arthritis. Doesn't seem to be limping at all but does believe he does have paw sensitivity. I tried the critter litter in one litter box he doesn't seem to fond of it. I tried puppy pads in the litterbox also doesn't seem to like it. (I did keep the old type of litter underneath to absorb any access moisture) he seems ok with critter litter under the puppy pads but they are single use. He refuses to use the pad again once it has already been used. It also seems to slowly absorb which may be why. Perhaps a better puppy pad might work. He isn't fond of standing in his own pee or peeing on his feet. I'll be ordering the cat attract litter this weekend to give that a go. I have also thought of perhaps buying a bunch of cheap towels and placing that in his box and just washing them daily. But I am not sure if that would reinforce his peeing on fabrics or not. We hide the dish towels in the kitchen because he seems to have a preference for them. Today he has figured out where I hide them and pulls them off the microwave and sits them by one of his litterboxes and pees on it. Such a gentlemen lol. At least he isn't hiding it from me so I can clean it up right away. Trial and error I guess. Well figure it out eventually what works best for him. I'll do anything to make him happy. I think he's figured out I don't get mad at him if he doesn't hide it. And I'm starting to think the reason he doesn't have "accidents" when I'm home because he calls for me when he needs to go and I follow him to the litterbox giving him a treat after he goes each time. So part of that may be he forces himself to go in the box when I'm home because of the treats and the lovins he gets afterwards. Where as my boyfriend doesn't pay as much attention to his calls. Or use positive reinforcement when he uses his box. This also explains his habit of always using the box when I come home from work. I'm so used to doing all of this It never crossed my mind. This lil guy is my life. Love him. I don't thing we ever leave each other's side when I'm home. Maybe I should dump my boyfriend and just call Loki my boyfriend instead. He's a better cuddler anyways ;)

There is also kitten attract litter which i believe has an even finer texture than cat attract. Maybe try both and see which works best. They are both expensive, but besides the attraction part and the fine textures it is actually the best clumping litter. Low dust and clumps very hard.

That's the one I was referring to the one that is extra fine cat attract Sorry I left that one out.

What do you wash your dish towels in? It might be the texture... change the dish towels to a different fabric perhaps?

You could try towels in the litterbox, I'd wash them in bleach as that can attract cats to pee...so putting bleach-scented towels into a litterbox might work nicely. But as you have already worked out, it may well increase peeing on other fabrics in the house unless they are of a very different texture to your towels etc!

He hasn't shown any preference on type of towel. I have odd towels so they are all different textures. I wash them in vinegar and laundry detergent. I'll see how the cat attract litter works if it doesn't I'll try the towels. And see if I can find some that are very different from the towels I already have. Thank you for the input. He's my baby boy no matter how much of a "headache" he can give me sometimes. I'll do whatever it takes for him to be happy. I've never known a cat to bond so closely to its human. He is the reason I can say I have truely fallen in love with the savannah breed.

Your relationship with him will likely outlast your b friend anyway. ;)
Have you tried shredded paper? I think I would just brainstorm and find a bunch of stuff to just try. You can just buy the cat attract additive and put it into something else? World's best has a neat texture cats like or just pure sand. I have a sand pit outside which they love- inside would be a bit more problematic but when I add more fresh sand, they go nuts just playing in it.

I haven't the closest thing to shredded paper is the critter litter I tried. It's made from paper pulp and is pretty soft and fluffy. But he doesn't seem to be a fan of it going between his toes
