Paw sensitivity- litter recommendations

Ok so as an update I tried paper towels and puppy pads. Successful yes. But only single use. I was going to try wheat litter and surprise surprise my local pet store has cat attract litter in stock. Grabbed a box while I was there. Definately successful!! Except pooty keeps kicking it all over the floors since he has decided it is a toy box now. Loki doesn't seem to hate this litter as much. I still have yet to try the wheat litter. I will let you all know how it goes. I didn't realize the other litter has crystals in it. Not the box before it but. Box I got after of the same brand had crystals. He hates crystals. I would say that's now a problem except ive noticed if he comes around while cleaning the box he sneezes from the dust. And seems to have some labored breathing after. Since switching all the boxes to the cat attract no problems at all. so I bet that dust was bad on a few levels.

Cairo was fussy when we first got him - he did not use the cement litter. We then got the wooden chips and he began using it instantly.

My cats prefer Cat's Pride Fresh and Light. The granules are smaller. I also must keep the nails trimmed on my Scottish Fold or he will not jump into the litter box. I tried the wheat litter and absolutely hated it. I kept finding nasty little flying bugs in the house, almost like Fruit flies. When I stopped using that litter, no more problem. Sue

I tried the cats pride fresh and light. He uses it for the first day or two then stops. I clean the litterboxes 3-5 times daily so it's not that it's dirty. But I think since it doesn't smell as fresh. I have Loki on anxiety medication. We had him looked at for crystals and ran some tests. No issues no the vet thinks it's stress related. He was afraid to use the box. Since we put him on the medication he seems to be fully relieving himself and spends much more time in the boxes now!! I tried the wheat but I am also afraid of the buggies that I keep hearing about with swheat scoop. He uses three boxes right now. One is cat attract, swheat scoop, and Mimi crystal litter. He seems to favor the crystal litter for peeing in. To my surprise. He seems to like less dusty litters. The cat attract he only uses when the other boxes are either being used of need cleaned. He uses the swheat scoop to poop in. But it could also just be that he likes the taller box for pooping. Were going to try the world best litter in that box next and see if he likes it a little better. Let the Pepsi litter challenge continue lol.

Have you tried sand? It has its drawbacks -- no clumping, no odor control, and would probably have to be changed frequently but it's definitely soft. I read that the type of sand used in kids' sandboxes isn't good because it contains something (can't remember what) that is problematic for cats. But volcanic sand or perhaps what you can get from a garden store?

I'll try that if the others don't work. But after we got him over his fear of the box he seems to be gravitating towards larger smooth granules since they don't get stuck to his paws
