Hey Trish, hate to say it, but this pic you took of Malaika is so over the top! I have it as sceen saver on iPad, everyone that walks by gushes over it, her little face just looks so exotic! Just sayin hope no-one tries that hijack thing with her.

John Popp is right- copyrighting your photos is the best answer.

Unfortunately- my time is limited and I don't tend to do it... But that's what happens when you have kids, kittens, dogs, and classes to attend to! Sometimes, I DO drop the ball

My wife as a professional photographer also fails to get it done at times. She recently had someone looking to her for a temporary assignment on a larger project who actually had an image of hers in their digital portfolio. Fortunately she took the high road on it and didn't take them to task, just wrote them a short letter stating that in the future it's important to be the photographer responsible for the images in their book. I wish I could have seen the look on their face while reading it.

Oke, its wrong to steal. But it's a huge compliment towards your cat and you photography skills.

Also, these(or this) pet owner, I believe, is upset about a Savannah cat scam site. I would not want my cats picture on a bogis site!

I just looked at the perps ebay page and she has seemingly built herself quite a business stealing others intellectual property. Hundreds if not thousands of examples of her selling other peoples images and I am sure this is not the first time someone has called her out on it. A serial copyright violator that at some point needs taken to task.

BTW, an image is copyrighted the moment you take the picture. It doesn't need to have the © symbol on it to say that it is copyrighted. All the © does is serve as fair warning that you know that your images have value, and that value will be fought for with unauthorized use. Again, it doesn't need to exist for the images to be copyrighted, just letting the thieves know the hammer will fall if they do.

For Michelle, this person is devaluing your product. If I were looking for a savannah, and I'm on your site and see an image scattered across the internet and ebay, I could conceivably walk away with the perception the kitten you are trying to sell me is not your own. That truly sucks and I would send her a cease and desist letter. If it's something that you want to pursue send me a note and I'll get you a copy of the shot over the bow letter my wife uses.

My ex was a photographer, when I tried making prints of some of his photos, they wouldn't let me without him being there with ID. The photos were not copy written. Of course this was when we were still together, and he just went down with me to show ID. I know unlawful printing of other people's
photos are a lot easier to get away with these days, but if your up to it, you can pursue legal action.
Most people don't unless photography is their business and crooks know this.

If you like a photo and want a personal copy of it that's one thing, other wise you could always try to contact the person and just ask for permission to copy and use it for other purposes. Never hurts to just ask!

While it's a compliment- sure- but I would not want someone cashing in on my hard earned photos. And trust me- cat photography is not easy. The cat show photographers- hats off to them because they bust their butts and they are MAGIC with the cats. Magic.
