I'm a little late to this, but why would a rescue need money to pull from a shelter? All the rescues I've worked with before never had to pay to remove them from shelters. Heck the shelters were glad to turn them over to legitimate rescues so they knew they wouldn't be put down. Maybe I'm missing something?

SV rescue recently pulled an F3 from a shelter and we had to pay for shots, neuter, microchip, etc. .. luckily the adopter was local or we would have needed transportation as well. ..

Some shelters do charge breed rescue groups to pull a cat...often lower than their adoption fee but a contribution towards the vetting they've done on the cat to date...
