Thank you all for your awesome comments...I happen to agree with Shelby and will not reduce Cinny's price based on her non-permissible coat. She is developing into a beautiful girl and the only price reduction will come for type...I do not think that is going to be an issue with her as she is looking good ;) But I also am not going to argue with other breeders and their friends about the fact that Cinny has an NP coat and therefore I should reduce her price.

She will find a wonderful home, I am sure...

You do what you want, Paige. That's the way all of us handle our catteries- in the end. If you worry about what OTHERS think when it comes to this type of issue, it will drive YOU crazy! At least, it drove me crazy and I simply decided to do what I like :).

Thanks Trish! I guess I am not really worried about what others think, but more puzzled as to why certain people are giving me a hard time about it all. It is not my business what other catteries/breeders charge and I have never bargained or asked anyone to reduce prices for me...oh well, I will just continue to do what I think is right ;) And you are right...it is enough to drive anyone crazy :roflmao: If you let it...

Business is not always logical. In fact, most of the time it is illogical, and plays on your emotions, fears, etc. Possibly even moreso these days when the economy is such a mess and everyone is crazy; but IMO that is all the more reason to not react to emotional bribery.

There's nothing wrong with someone asking for a discount. And there's nothing wrong with giving a discount because *you* decide that there are mitigating circumstances to make the discount favorable to you. But a request is different than a demand.

If you believe you can sell X product for Y dollars, then you should do so. I have always tried to do so and almost always gotten the price I asked. Do not compromise your values and you won't be known as the businessperson who compromises her values.

...but Cinny is going to run away and come live with us here in California anyway...just sayin'.

This is true!!! I don't mind someone asking for a discount at all and if I want to give it I will...I will get my price and I will not compromise my values - no worries...

Cinny says she is on her way to visit you ;)

And what, pray, is supposed to be wrong with cinnamon? Only SBT are show cats anyway, the rest can do as they like. We have a house full of F6Cs now, and they are no more or less worth as pets because they are BSTs. But the few really really fine ones that will be future breeders, they are the expensive ones, but still "only" cats (they´ll injure me for that comment). A SV is a beautiful cat regardless of colour, but the breeding stock, as opposed to the pets, must be more conforming.
