There are some good tips on here on how to introduce a new kitten into the family. I'm actually so pumped for my few weeks of quarantine!

The only thing I can say to you guys is that if CITES is not done, the cat is being brought illegally into Canada... If you get caught with an F2 at the border, the kitten will be confiscated... I'm not sure how you guys can possibly think this is ok... It has happened many times before... I see Patti brought this up already, so I will leave it at this, but it is very disappointing to see this occurring with no regard to the welfare of the kitten, since it is the kitten who will suffer... And if the breeder insists that it won't happen, that is very irresponsible... It may not... But you are gambling with a kittens life...

I liked Patti's comment, because I have been explained now the process several times. The average time most people have told me is 3 months for CITES and Fish and Wildlife, but since Canada seems to be an easier country, I am hopeful it could be sooner, but stated that either way the kitten wouldn't be 12 weeks until 2 months from now, so I will have to be patient regardless. The kitten will be sent to the Toronto airport, I was the one who suggested Detroit since it was just as convenient to me. I wasn't aware of the commercial invoice and will mention it to her as well. Thank you for your concern, I would be heartbroken if Zuko were confiscated as I am beginning to love him already.

Ok... Good to know... As long as it is being done, that is all that matters... I was just making sure, since I did not see any other comment... I have already helped with a similar situation and it did not end well for the F1 cat, so it is a very sensitive topic for me... Thanks for clarifying...

I have read a couple really good threads about this but also some bad experiences. I plan on taking it real slow and making sure the first impression is a good one. I cannot wait for the quarantine as well!! I will be taking vacation from work and get to know my new friend. I am a homebody regardless, so between my partner and I, he wouldn't be alone for long.

I'm in Canada too and my baby's mom was formerly d.j's! Small world (or community, I guess!)

Very small world, and I love it. This community is why my love turned in to a full blown obsession. I open this app constantly hoping for something new!

Very glad to hear that you are aware of the laws and working to import your baby legally, I was worried when you didn't initially respond!

Sorry! I thought I recognized it by liking. I do appreciate you explaining it to me again. :)

Actually, on this forum posters do not get notified when their posts are 'liked' much less by whom, so I had no idea that you had 'liked' my post :)
