A bonded cat will simply want to be with you when you're at home - he will sit on your lap, follow you around (when he's in the mood - remember, he's a cat), he knows that you are in charge of feeding him, and providing him with entertainment. In essence it means that you are his go-to human to meet all of his needs (y)

I think it is hard to really define a bonded cat. My F1 Missy is highly bonded to me and only me....but she would never sit in my lap. But she fluffs up in pleasure at the sound of my voice, rubs on my legs and shows her love for me in small ways. She does not react to others and for most of her life simply avoided everyone else.
I think that cats are very individual and show their love for you in sometimes very subtle ways so it would be hard to define that...especially if it came to a custody type situation.

Thanks for your replies. What you've said pretty much sums up what I was thinking. I've had cats the last 13 years, but just the usual domestics and wanted to be certain savannahs are the same way. Because then he definitely shows those behaviours. Definitely a lap kitty and clearly shows he is bonded to me. If I'm in the house and he's shut out of the room I'm in he'll sit outside the door and cry. It's really cute. And he does the slow blink sign of love ^^
