p.s Im seeing nothing but warnings about the trouble I am in for... "giggle:

They have been put in a room on the thirdfloor of our house with about 400 toys, card board boxes, scratch posts and trees and they have already worked out that they can escape as soon as they hear someone coming upstairs.. luckily we have a door at the bottom of the stairs :)

although they now like to tear the carpet away from the door, so every time I open the door Im greeted by two sprinting Savannahs and a curled up carpet :)

I think you are misunderstanding the situation.
I was not kidding about the ride of your life. But I wouldn't have it any other way. Nor would just about every member of this forum. The responsible breeders work very hard at socializing these active cats, which is a hallmark of the breed. Again, just about every member on this forum will tell you these are the best cats of their lives. The guidance we are trying to provide is that these cats tend to get into your life at a much higher level than other cats. They will interact in ways you can't imagine. They are highly intelligent. So they get into mischief. They get easily bored, and then find things to amuse themselves, which can annoy the human servants. They need a reasonable amount of daily human interaction. Sometimes it helps to think in terms of dogs stuck in a cat body. They usually love to play fetch and go for leashed walks. They love the head scritching. They do slow down a bit at full adulthood, which is around 3 years.
The biggest hurdle we all went through was the realization of just who was training whom. (A lot of kicking and screaming for most of us during the process. It's normal.)

Also, I think the cats are protesting they do not have full run of the house.

Welcome Jason.

When we say trouble, we often mean it as the mischief we can laugh about. Read the forums and you will find all manner of stories about exactly these things.

haha no worries I knew what you meant.

I totally expect it, And am "sort of" looking forwards to it, they've had us laughing a lot already and its only the 3rd day :)

Sav is very affectionate and wants to have cuddles all the time where as Holtby is still a little unsure and would rather sniff around and play.

Any tips?

Sounds like my house and I still get what looks like "I'm booooored" stares from the cats. To make them more appreciative of what they have, you should put away some of the toys and rotate them at random to keep the cats from getting bored. Even then, they'll find other things to amuse themselves when they have full run of the house. One of our members has a SV who steals his girlfriend's bras:big grin:
