Question for breeders only

AprilAnn

Savannah Super Cat
After talking with you all I did come to realize it has nothing to do with the cattery. I sent a reply email to my breeder after and apologized for being rude in the first email and I basically poured my heart to them. I've had a tornado of emotions the past days and I pointed the finger at the wrong people.

Luckily my breeder was very sweet and compassionate and is willing to work with me on a new kitty in the next month. I could never thank them enough.

After they euthanize I am taking him to the university to have a necropsy done to confirm FIP and then cremation.

Yes, those of us that have been "in cats" for some time feel cynical when we hear the vet says FIP...it's the catch-all diagnosis when it is not a simple URI or UTI.

I know I gave the emergency vet a long questioning look when she said maybe FIP when I brought my collapsed Aziza in... she immediately understood. Told me she'd lost her pet kitten the past year from FIP and knew exactly what I was thinking. She then explained to me all the alternatives and what tests we were going to run to rule them out first. And basically that's all you can do with dry FIP, when there is no fluid to draw then you have to pretty much just rule every other possibility out. It's expensive. But I could face letting Z go once I felt there were no other good options, and also when I could look into her beautiful face and see in her eyes that it was time to leave me. I'm crying again just remembering.

I feel for AprilAnn, this is just so devastating.

I'd give you and Tank a big hug if I can! For sure, it's a whirlwind- you've been on a pretty bad rollercoaster since you went into the vet :(

I know. Sorry for all the "emo" posts. :/ not trying to make everyone on here sad!!!
Oh honey- this is what this site is about...

There are so many highs to Savannah ownership, but this is a low that one way or another, we all end up at... The Rainbow Bridge- it's beautiful in theory, but NO ONE wants to let go... It's not in our nature.

I am going to go light a candle for you and Tank right now... We'll be thinking of you.

I am SO glad that you reached out to the breeder, especially as this has gotten you a positive response. I am glad the breeder is cooperating, not that it surprises me too much as I think any number of good breeders would be the same. I am sure it makes it a little easier for you to know that when you are ready there can be a new kitten that can help heal your heart. I'm sure if you need a little more time the breeder would accommodate you also... don't rush it if you aren't ready!

Hugs April, to you and Tank. He will be in good company at the Rainbow Bridge. I am so sorry that both of you had to endure this nightmare.
