Question re blood test results

I just lost one of my cats to losing weight she was a 8 year old spayed bengal cat. She lost 75% of her weight in 4 months. The vet ran every test possible and could find nothing wrong wit her. After coming back from the vet she died a week later.

I had something similar. My F4 Savannah Jayboy got sick back in Sept and lost 50% of his body weight in less than 8 weeks. The vet did all the blood work and x-rays and could find nothing wrong either. He got weaker and weaker and passed away in my lap 2 day before Christmas. He was just shy of 9 yrs old. I beat myself up over it for several months wondering what more I could have done but what can you do when the Vet can't tell you whats wrong. My sympathies go out to you also for your loss.

Wow that's kinda scary!! :( and I am so sorry to hear, you are right, we leave the healing to the "experts", and if they can't figure anything out and help, what more can you do?? :(

Nadia had an ultrasound today. There was a small spot in the stomach but since I was not told to keep her away from food, the vet is not sure if it is food or something else. I have to take her back tomorrow morning for another ultrasound and keep her away from food during the night. Sue

Wow, scary that the vet can't diagnose it. Hope it turns out to be something not too serious.

The ultrasound taken today shows nothing. Vet is contacting an internal medicine specialist and will get back to me. Sue

Was it the food she ate then? Since it wasn't there the next day?

Yes, the spot that was seen yesterday was food. She was fasting this morning, so nothing showed up on the ultrasound. Sue

Just got a phone call from my vet. The specialist recommends an X-Ray, Feline Leukemia, Feline Aids and as a last resort test for Idiopathic Hyper Calcemia. I am back to researching all of these things. Sue

Just read this thread, am crying so hard cant type- so sorry for you Sue, to be in this position. Will send prayers your way, as really, it seems we dumb humans that aren't intelligent enough to actually Talk to our beautiful animals, have very little by way of help to give them, other than our prayers. I have watched helplessly as my angel slipped away...
