We are back home. They did not find anything broken. It appears to be all soft tissue. Her leg is shaved and no real evidence of trauma. They are not ruling out a sting but think of it more as a swollen ankle.

She is to take 2 tabs Onisor daily for 3 days and 1.5 mL of Clavamox twice a day for 2 weeks. This ought to be fun. Exercise restriction - no running, jumping, twisting or playing is allowed. Seriously?! And no access to the catio. Poor baby. This is going to be a long 2 weeks.

Poor girl. She will be bored and really upset. BUT... AT LEAST there are no broken bones, cuts or abrasions. Mine have caught claws in things, tried to get loose, and twisted or pulled muscles. She will heal fast. She is a tough girl.

Glad to hear it's not a serious injury. Sorry to hear about more meds and exercise restriction. Poor Rafiki, poor you! Hugs!

After dinner, I looked for Rafiki. Looked in the closets, under the bed, behind the bed, etc.
Finally I looked up. Oh yes. "Exercise restriction - no running, jumping, twisting or playing is allowed."
I don't think that she listened. And this is with a sore leg. 2 weeks of trying to contain her? Once she is "feeling better"?! And yes, I am quite sure that she is laughing at me in the 2nd picture.

Linda, do you think they survive in the wild? I believe if she was seriously injured. she would not jump. I am of the opinion that most Vets, although with good intentions, are way too over cautious with minor illness and injury. JUST LIKE ME. If she will listen, fine. If not, please do not get over stressed. She will not exacerbate her injury. She has enough instinct to allow it to heal.

Well what do you expect when you put shelves up for her except that she will use them?! I'm certainly glad that her injury wasn't more serious, and I'm sure you will be 'hurting' more than she will for the next two weeks - good luck carrying out your instructions... :roflmao:

Sounds like the instructions I got after picking Venus up from getting spayed. Don't even let her jump on the furniture and beds. You feel like asking them if they've ever met a savannah before. Only way this would be possible would be to confine her to her kennel.
It's like Venus is a redneck cat. I can see it in her eyes at times, she just looking at me saying "hey ya'll, watch this." And that's fine with me. I'm in the same category except I've got more scars from the antics immediately following that statement!

When the tech told me that sometimes it is best to split the 1.5 mL into 3 doses.....just hold her squirt a bit, let her swallow, squirt some more and do it one more time. Yeah.....I looked at her and asked her if she had ever attempted to hold a Savannah? At least the pill can be shoved into a freeze dried duck tender but a liquid.....no disguising that!

Today she is doing much better. She does not seem to be favoring that leg. It is hard to tell if it is swollen - the right leg has full fur and the left is shaved so I am trying to compare a fuzzy leg to a shaved and the shaved simply looks smaller no matter what!

Something tells me that I may have overreacted. Perhaps she got bit by a yellow jacket? They didn't see anything after shaving the leg but a yellow jacket doesn't leave the stinger the way a bee does so I don't know if there would be much to see. But the bottom line is that I would not have forgiven myself had it gotten worse and I had not rushed her to the ER.
