Last week, we left the toilet lid up by accident and nothing happened. I had the foolish thought that maybe Rafiki had outgrown this habit. At 2 am, I discovered otherwise. I stepped on a nice soggy mop-head cover for our floor steamer that someone had apparently rinsed out in the toilet. Then there was the squishy soggy yellow ball that somehow found its way into our bed. Can anyone say laundry-day?! A small furry someone was quite proud of herself. She was very excited to show me her handy work when I got up. So excited that she love-bit me on the nose during her head-butt session. Sigh.
I can relate. Diablo likes to bring me a sopping wet mouse toy at 2 am to play fetch. Maybe he and Rafiki are related?

Seriously though really glad she is up to antics and head butts.

I brought Rafiki back to the internal medicine vet for a 3 month check up. She has been scratching and flapping her ears a lot this past week and acting very twitchy so we suspected that the infection was back. Her right ear is showing some inflammation but no discharge. Her blood work showed elevated ALT (434 against a normal range of 12-130). CHOL was also a smidgeon high as well as LYM. The vet thinks that all are related to the infection. She was given the same Convenia and Dexamethasone shots that worked last time and he thinks that she is good to go. Rafiki is now 14.52 lbs.

Fingers crossed that the Convenia does the trick. Will you be taking her back for a recheck of her labs?

Dr. Bianco was pretty confident and said to bring her back next week if she is still twitchy or flapping her ears. Otherwise, I can go ahead and get her back to her regular vet for her annual check-up and her booster shot. We had run titers last May and her immunity was not sufficient but we have not wanted to add any stress to her body so we have been waiting. It will be nice to take her outside again without that worry.
